Quickoffice Announces World, Excel Compatible Office Suite for iPhone

Quickoffice today unveiled the first full Microsoft Word and Excel-compatible Office suite for the iPhone. Named Quickoffice for iPhone, the application will be available in the next few weeks for $19.99.

Quickoffice is one of the most often used Microsoft Office-compatible software suites for mobile devices. It has long been available for the Palm OS and Symbian OS smartphones running with both the S60 and UIQ interfaces. A version for Google Android-run 'gPhones' was released back in February.

The software promises to feature an intuitive user interface and support functions that include cut, copy and paste, font formatting, content selection and bullets within Word documents. Users can also leverage a wider keyboard to edit and create documents in landscape mode. Excel functionality includes extensive mathematical and statistical formulas.

Other useful features include file sharing capabilities via Wi-Fi desktop connectivity and access to one's MobileMe iDisk account. Editing is done with maintaining perfect data integrity, in addition to 'auto-save' to ensure none of your work is lost on-the-go, according to the company.

In addition to the full version, Quickoffice for iPhone will also be available in separate applications to cater to an individual's needs. Quicksheet, formerly MobileFiles Pro, includes only Excel editing functionality and Quickword features only Word editing, both will be available for $12.99. Quickoffice Files, formerly named MobileFiles 2.0, enables users to access and view documents.

Available through the Android Market, Quickoffice for Android enables users to view and manage Word and Excel files directly from the phone. Features include zoom and scrolling throughout the documents, all while retaining the integrity of the original document formatting, according to Quickoffice.

Both Word and Excel documents, when received in an e-mail message, can be saved to the device to view later. And telephone numbers, Web sites and e-mail address are hyperlinked directly from Word files

A file manager allows users to easily navigate through folders on their memory card, rename and delete files, view properties and sort documents by name, type, size or date modified.
