The file viewer in GoodReader, a large PDF and text document reader for the iPhone from Good.iWare, now includes "server style" support for DropBox--a service that allows you to store, sync, and share files online.
This new feature means GoodReader users may not only view files in a DropBox account and download them for viewing on the iPhone, but they can also upload files to DropBox just like they would with a regular file server like FTP.
The previous edition of GoodReader offered a web-browser connection to DropBox, which enabled users to browse DropBox accounts and download files into GoodReader. But it did not allow users to reverse that process and upload files from GoodReader to DropBox.
Besides its text search capability, other key GoodReader features include active hyperlinks, which enable users to more easily navigate within the document or launch a linked document or Web site, and PDF Reflow, with which text is extracted from a PDF page (stripping out pictures) and displayed as a simple TXT file in its own viewing pane. The app also offers the ability to edit TXT files. Another feature lets users import and export pictures to and from the iPhone's Photo Album.
GoodReader is available as a free, Lite version and $0.99 paid edition. GoodReader Lite (available here) is identical to the full version in number of features, but limits the user to storing five files at any given time. The full version is available here.
