--To create an OnMyWay notification, a user inputs a destination, enters a scheduled appointment time, selects or enters one or more phone numbers or e-mail addresses to send alerts to, and then hits start. The user's address book is automatically integrated into the application to simplify information input. In addition, the sender has the option to attach a personal message to each notification.
--OnMyWay automatically notifies recipients of the sender's ETA by text or e-mail so the user can focus on driving. It delivers an initial notification alerting the receiver when the driver has started his/her trip and includes an anticipated ETA based on GPS location. Following the initial alert, up to three additional status messages might be automatically sent based on the sender's preferences.
Additional alerts sent to the recipient include notification if the sender will be late for the appointment (with a new ETA), when the person is a pre-determined time (in minutes) away from the destination, and one minute from arriving. OnMyWay does not share the user's specific location in any of the notifications.
]]>FanFeedr launched its iPad app on April 3, the ship date for the iPad- so Fanfeedr's analytics on iPad usage vs iPhone usage are the most complete consumer stats to date since Fanfeedr's been there since day one.
In July, FanFeedr's average session length on mobile devices was a staggering 14:20 versus 1:35 on the web. In fact, nearly 20% of the time spent on FanFeedr comes from mobile devices. There is obviously something to be said about the larger screen size as one of the key factors. But it is also the way that FanFeedr renders on the iPad screen, especially for viewing photos and videos in the user's real-time feed.
In the news Rupert Murdoch of News Corp. heaped tons of praise on the iPad during News Corp.'s Analyst conference call last week and called it a "game changer" at least a half dozen times. So we're on the right track.
And Nielsen just released a survey on who is buying an iPad versus an iPhone or both. The Nielsen Company surveyed more than 64,000 mobile subscribers, fielded April through June 2010: see here.
And last week the CEO of Acer announced that they would aggressively be launching a family of tablet devices soon, and Samsung leaked information that they will be launching their first tablet called the Samsung Galaxy on Sept. 2.
The new tablet category, led by iPad will be great for FanFeedr's traffic, page views and user time spent per visit growth.
